Allergies and Asthma
Dr. Springer trained in the specialty of Allergy and Immunology at what was then the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. This means we are equipped to diagnose and manage all sorts of allergic disorders, from respiratory problems to skin disorders to food intolerances. Our diagnostic methods include allergy testing by skin tests and blood tests, and measures of breathing capacity by pulmonary function testing.
In addition to developing treatment plans incorporating avoidance of known allergens and the proper medications, we offer desensitization by sublingual drops. This form of immunotherapy, long the standard of care in Europe, is not yet covered by insurance in this country. However, we make it available to our patients because it can provide allergy desensitization with greater safety and convenience than the traditional office-based allergy shots which are also an option for selected individuals.
